Plus Academy CHARLOTTE Hosts Open House for Spring Semester
Fashion and Fabulous Fun for the Full-Figured Woman

CHARLOTTE N.C., (February 16, 2011) – Plus-size women are taking the fashion scene by storm. This year’s New York Fashion Week has many plus-size women ripping the runway and the need for plus-size models is increasing. The country’s leading training and development academy for full -figured women will hold its spring open house March 19, 2011 at Spirit Square (345 N. College St.) in Uptown Charlotte. The Plus Academy CHARLOTTE is seeking aspiring plus-size models for spring semester 2011. The event begins at 1 p.m. and is open to the public; however, pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

The Plus Academy CHARLOTTE provides aspiring full-figured models with hands-on experience to kick start their modeling careers and learn the business of modeling from the ground up. A team of 12 top professionals experienced in the plus size modeling market conduct classes and workshops to assist in helping models take their careers to the next level. Tiffany “Tip” Jones, most recognized for her appearance as a finalist on Mo’Nique’s F.A.T. Chance (The Oxygen Network) during its second season, is the Director of Plus Academy CHARLOTTE and facilitates day to day operations at the academy.

This mega open house will include a vendor exhibit, introduction to this year’s academy instructors and informational presentation about Plus Academy CHARLOTTE. Through this program, students will learn more than how to master the catwalk; they will learn how to represent themselves in a business setting. Students will also learn advanced hair, make-up, and wardrobe styling techniques. Graduates from Plus Academy CHARLOTTE say this program has helped them become better women and gain greater self-confidence.

“I have felt for a long time that there was no place for me, but since I have been here I feel more comfortable with who I am,” class of 2010 Brenee’ Warren said.

The Plus Academy CHARLOTTE does more than just instruct aspiring plus-size models about the fashion industry; the program instills the confidence these women need to be successful in whatever profession they choose.

Back by Popular Demand!

This book has been a staple for several plus women, so they told us we needed to bring it back!

"Literally a crash course on having fabulous style at any size, this book explores several areas of style that the average curvy girl struggles with. Dressing your body type, shopping, and much more can be found and not from the perspective of a person who has never been in your shoes, but from a stylista who has always worn your peep toe pumps. Combine this with a little good humor, a dash of tough love, and a whole lot of style and you have The Curvy Girl’s Guide to Style, Volume I" - The Garner Style Blog

What would you do to stop Domestic Violence?

If it were your Mom, your sister, your best friend, or you that endured the verbal lashings, physical beatings, bruises, broken bones, and shredded self-esteem, what would you do to keep it from happening to another woman?

Over 4 million women experience such tragedy in the U.S. A significant amount of those women choose not to be defined by that experience and they are allowing God to rebuild their lives.

These women we celebrate.

"The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" Scholarship Fund has been created to send a woman who has chosen to be a victor and not a victim of domestic violence to The Plus Academy CHARLOTTE.

Help us celebrate her.
